A few things the imagination achieves

I believe in the power of the imagination to remake the world, to release the truth within us, to hold back the night, to transcend death, to charm motorways, to ingratiate ourselves with birds, to enlist the confidences of madmen.

Thanks for this quote.

I loved your poem on "The Writer's Almanac" today. Loved the intense attention to the details of the sunflowers. I have sunflowers in my perennial garden - volunteers which have sprouted from birdseed which the birds somehow missed. There's too much shade for them to prosper, but some of them do bloom and bend their heads. Wish I could go to that festival where you and Jane Hirschfield will be next weekend... but time , distance, and money prevent me. Will try to see you when you are in DC.

Best wishes from Anne
